Jim Dinnerville, Reference Librarian at the Blue Island Public Library in Blue Island, IL, found the notion of Illinois libraries losing their funding so scary that he recruited some seasonal friends to bring attention to the point:

This is a great example of a way to get the word out that libraries need the public’s support! Well done, Jim and Blue Island Public Library!

Good staging Jim. I’m in Springfield at the University of Illinois. I work in Brookens Library & one of the things I do is run the Central Illinois Nonprofit REsource Center – a resource for locating private foundation funding. The state absolutely needs to support public libraries, but in the meantime, while things are very lean, you might want to check out nonprofit resources in your area such as the Donors Forum for private funding for various projects. Here’s their web site: http://donorsforum.org or if you want to check us out our web site is http://library.uis.edu/cinrc.
Best,
Pamela
